Mrs. Dean, a graduate of the Georgia Southern University, Statesboro (formerly Teachers College), was employed with Georgia Power for several years. Then after her marriage to George W. Dean, they moved to Douglas from Swainsboro, Ga. (1939). She retired after 25 years of service with City of Douglas, 20 years as City Clerk. She was a member of First United Methodist Church where she held offices in several ladies organizations, secretary and treasurer of the Susanna Wesley Class.
Survivors include: her husband of 65 years, George W. Dean of Douglas, Ga.; one son, Grady Dean of Claxton, Ga.; one sister, Doris Jones Daughtry of Louisville, Ga.; four grandchildren, Deana Murphy Graham of Covington, Ga., Jodi Murphy Blocker of Charlotte, N.C., Debra Haroon of Dunwoody, Ga., and William F. Dean of Claxton, Ga.; four great-grandchildren, Mollie Graham and Emma Graham, both of Mansfield, Ga., Dean Haroon of Dunwoody, Ga., and Bryce Dean of Claxton, Ga.
