Dean resigns position Superintendent of public works has no plans
By JOHN LA PORTE
Times News Editor
Dan Dean resigned Wednesday his post as Fort Morgan superintendent of public works.
His resignation, which he said was for personal reasons, is effective Aug. 4.
The move came at the end of a Fort Morgan City Council meeting that included a briefing on the possibility of an avian influenza (bird flu) pandemic, a bid on rebuilding of an electric line, dedication of a portion of a road, the first of two readings on an annexation, a variance, two beer license renewals, appointments to the senior citizen advisory board and numerous reports from city staff.
Dean joined the city June 1, 2004, coming from Burlington, where he was city administrator. He had also served in city management in Nebraska and Oregon after starting his city administration career as a circuit rider town manager for Crook, Fleming, Iliff and Peetz.
He said he had no future plans at this time.

"The city has a great staff," Dean told the council. "They're dedicated, professional folks. The city's in good hands with them."
Dean declined to elaborate on rumors of personality conflicts and denied that his resignation was due to the city's personnel structure.
"Fort Morgan has a different structure, but that's not really any of the issue," he said.

Dean noted that a company is to come in and level panels on Barlow Road, probably in September.
