   Curtis Dean of Spencer will serve as director for the DEADSTOCK project at SCT. "This is an exciting first for SCT, both as a volunteer organization and as a performing arts venue," says Dean. "In its heyday, radio theatre was as important a form of entertainment as television is today. While few radio stations still air these productions, a number of theatre groups around the country have continued to perform audio theatre because it is fun to produce and interesting to listen to or watch live." The project will culminate on Saturday, August 5th, at 7:30pm with the production of the DEADSTOCK audio theatre adaptation, live on the SCT stage. "Our plan is to present a live performance of DEADSTOCK the same way it would have been done during the heyday of radio theatre." Dean says that means voice actors on stage will read their character's parts into microphones, while sound effects operators will perform live sound effects and play recorded effects.

   ""It's a good opportunity for people who don't like to memorize lines to be involved in a production," says Director Curtis Dean. Auditions for both the audiobook and the audio theatre will be held at Spencer Municipal Utilities in their new video studio facility at 712 North Grand Avenue in Spencer. The audiobook will be rehearsed and recorded during the month of June. Participants in the audio theatre production will rehearse the program in July with the fundraising performance at SCT on Saturday, August 5th.
