CARLO DEAN, music
THE 1 SECOND FILM features an original full symphony score composed by Carlo Dean and performed by the New Millennium Players. Carlo Dean received his Master's of Fine Arts in Music Composition (Instrumental) in 2001 from CalArts where he was the recipient of the Betty Freeman Foundation Scholarship in Composition. Carlo has written works for various instrumentations, from small chamber groups to orchestra; from solo voice to choir. His works have been performed throughout the United States, Canada, and Western Europe. In addition to composing, Carlo performs in the duo ‘jerseyturnpike' and plays guitar in ‘Bent, Welded, and Cast.' Carlo lives in San Francisco and is currently scoring a horror film, among other projects. -

Previous to CalArts, Carlo received his Bachelor's of Music in Music Performance from Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. While at Moravian College, Carlo studied jazz guitar with Tom Kozic, jazz composition with Skip Wilkins, and Composition with Larry Lipkis.

Carlo recently completed scoring a feature-length horror film, Bloodshed which is due to be released sometime in 2005, and will be shown at this year's Dead by Dawn horror film festival in Edinburgh, Scotland.
He is also putting the finishing touches on his theme song composition for the 2005 COLCOA (City of Lights, City of Angels) French film festival in Los Angeles.
Carlo scored Nirvan Mullick's The One Second Film (although the score was hundreds of times longer than that) for full orchestra.
