Her internship at the SGRM was primarily concerned with investigating options for better housing the St George Regional Museum collection.

mdean-jones@hurstville.nsw.gov.au
Megan is currently completing a Master of Arts in Museum Studies at Sydney University.
Her prior museum experience has been in the materials conservation field. She has gained several years experience working as a volunteer and casual in the Collections Integrity Unit of the Australian Museum. Most recently she completed two internships there. The first involved developing a magnetic vertical display system for bark cloth artefacts of the Pacific Islands. The second was writing a discussion paper for the Outreach section of the Australian Museum. This focussed on the development of a protocol for visiting indigenous communities who may wish to access and physically interact with their material culture housed at the museum.
Several years ago Megan also completed an internship for the St George Regional Museum looking at the conditions of the off-site storage area from a preventive conservation perspective.
Megan also has a background in graphic design having worked in the advertising industry for a number of years.
Her current work primarily involves working with the St George Regional Museum collection to help ensure that each object is well researched, documented and housed in the best possible way. -
