   Judy C. Dean-Hartsell, age 60, died at the V.A. Medical Center in Knoxville, Iowa, on Monday Morning (April 9, 2001) of Cancer.
   
   Judy was born on May 10, 1940, she was the daughter of Paul and Esther Carl Hartsell. She attended grade schools in Tama and graduated from Tama High School with the class of 1958. She was a life long resident of Tama. In 1958, she joined the Woman's Army Corp. (WACS) attaining the Rank of Staff Sergeant, SS56. On August 11, 1963, in Tama, she was united into marriage to Thomas Dean. They later were divorced.
   
   Judy was a member of the Living Faith United Methodist Church and served as secretary of the Admin. Council for two years. She was a lifetime member of the Royal Neighbors, Tama – Toledo Rainbows, Charter member of Waterloo Women Army Corp. and a member of the American Auxiliary Legion.
   
   Preceding her in death were her parents; a brother Paul of Brookfield, Illinois, on March 13, 2000.

   Since 1979 Judy has been a companion of Mr. Lou Walton of Tama/Toledo.
