Even before the class started, I faced my first challenge: how to download all the software my instructor, Al DeLuca, said I'd need.No big deal, I assumed, and it was a good idea to get a head start.Well, it was a big deal.An FTP program?Something to unzip it?A screen grabber?Although this software was available at the UMass Help site, I didn't know exactly what I was downloading or where to open the file once I downloaded it, for that matter.
...
DeLuca listed easy, concise steps to walk us through the process and also provided a set of handy HTML tags, which would become my class bible.
As to be expected, however, the work became progressively more challenging. Not to mention the fact that during the second week, the entire UMass campus suffered a network outage for roughly four days, making it impossible to access the WebCraft server.I found this very disconcerting, because I'd set aside a chunk of time and got myself into "class mode," only to run up against a virtual brick wall.
I was locked out of the site several other times throughout the course.Eventually, I began to lose interest and fell behind.
