Tonya Davis-Miller began her journey in the fitness business in 1996, when she received her first of multiple fitness certifications. She had spent several years in the professional wrestling industry by that time and knew the benefits of exercise from her previous training with other wrestlers. After having children she decided to lose the excess baby weight with a personal trainer.Upon completing six months of training with no results, she found out that the trainer she had hired was not certified, so in May of 1996 she took a certification course herself.Within a month, she had lost the 20 pounds she had been trying to lose."A trainer is only as good as their education," she says."Without that education, a trainer isn't going to be able to get you the results you want."Her education as a trainer has continued to grow through the years. She currently has over a dozen certifications in various forms of exercise, including Yoga, Pilates, Aqua Aerobics, Kickboxing, Stability Ball Exercise, and Children's Exercise Programming. She is also a Certified Sports Nutritionist.
Through her years in the fitness industry, Mrs. Davis-Miller has worked in a variety of positions in the fitness industry, including having her own fitness television program and managing gyms.Previously, she has worked in fitness clubs throughout the country, including fitness centers owned by the professional wrestlers Sting, Lex Luger, and Bill Goldberg.Training with the clientele in these establishments has honed her knowledge of bodybuilding and weight training. She has since taken that knowledge and applied it to achieve fabulous fat loss results for clients in women's only clubs in and around Charlotte, North Carolina. In these positions, she has been able to assist women with personalized programs to meet their individual needs and goals.Women's only fitness has become the fastest growing segment of the dynamic health and fitness industry. The rapid growth is due to the fact that over 90% of women in all age groups prefer to workout in an environment that is exclusively for women.Realizing that there isn't always a feasible option for women to workout in a club exclusively for women, Tonya developed Training With Tonya to meet the individual needs of clients in the privacy of her private studio.Private personal training is often more comfortable for clients due to the fact that they don't feel like they are on display in a gym setting. This can make it much easier to see results because of being more likely to stick to a fitness program.
Private training, however, isn't just for women wanting to lose a little weight.Private personal trainers are often utilized by athletes needing a little extra training to prepare for an event, elderly persons wanting to increase their mobility, parents who want to teach their children about healthy lifestyles, and people with various injuries and illnesses that need to start slower with their fitness program so as not to re-injure themselves.Tonya uses her hands on experience in physical rehabilitation and her fitness coursework in specialized populations to assist these clients with their specific needs. She has helped professional wrestlers and football players prepare for their sports, taught senior fitness classes, taught range of motion classes for people with arthritis, worked both privately and in a class setting with children to focus on healthy lifestyles, and assisted multitudes of clients rebuild their bodies after various injuries and illnesses."Proper nutrition and exercise are the keys to healing," she says.

Tonya Davis-Miller is trained to provide those things while designing personalized programs for each gym member. The programs are planned based on the fitness assessment tests and questionnaires that the clients do when they sign up for personal training. With this information, Tonya is able to customize the program to meet the client's specific needs and goals.Tonya believes in the philosophy that "going to the gym without a trainer is like going to school without a teacher."Therefore, she is looking for local gyms that want to provide their members with an educated trainer to teach them how to achieve their fitness goals.Because gym members will already be paying for a gym membership, she will be offering them a discount of 10% off of her private personal training rates for training sessions conducted in a gym setting. All members of the military, police department, fire department, medical personnel, and educational staff will receive the same discount on all services.
She is also currently looking into opportunities to teach fitness classes, such as Yoga, Pilates, Aqua Aerobics, and Stability Ball Exercise, at other locations in the area.As she puts together a schedule of classes that she will be teaching, it will be updated on her website, www.trainingwithtonya.com.Anyone wanting more information on setting up a training session, finding a class, or reading the articles she has written should look there or call 229-423-0202.
