Jimmie has been married to Gay Bowers going on 49 years.

Jimmie is a Licensed Certified Residential Appraiser and an honorary member of the South Carolina Association of Assessing Officials and has served as Treasurer and a member of the board for the Association.He is a former member of the Newberry Lions Club and the Newberry Jaycees.He graduated from Newberry High School and attended Newberry College and has completed numerous hours of education courses for his certified license.

Jimmie came to Newberry County as Assessor on September 17, 1973 and continued as Assessor until his retirement on September 30, 1995.He came back to the County and Assessor's Office on February 6, 1996 as a part time mapper.

Jimmie says he has enjoyed working for the County for the past 31 years.Since he has been working for the county, he has seen it grow from 14,000 parcels to 28,000 when he retired to now being over 30,000.The Assessor's Office staff considers Jimmie an admirable and well respected man who is loved by all.His knowledge of this county is indescribable and so abundant that the office often jokes that if we could clone him we would, only because we consider him irreplaceable.
