For over 20 years, Dr. Satya Narayana Dasa , Director, Jiva Culture has been demonstrating how this knowledge base can be practically applied to this busy, modern world of today through various works such as books, translations, articles, university lectures, video conferences, academic programmes, workshops and world tours.

Dr. Dasa has recently concluded yet another hugely successful attempt at spreading Indian philosophical knowledge across the length and breadth of the world with his annual three-month long World Tour (June-August 2009). Here's the detail.

The World Tour started with Germany, wherein he lectured at three places-at Langenargen, near Bodensee Lake in Baden-Württemberg, on Brihad Bhagvata Amritam (the book describing pure love); at Munich, at a Hindu temple, on Relevance of Bhagvad Gita and at Frankfurt on Obstacles in Spiritual Practice for a local society called Bhakti Marga.

After attending a 2-day family programme on Indian Philosophy in Zurich, Switzerland, Dr. Dasa went to Alicante, Spain wherein he conducted a 4-day workshop on Bhakti and a 2-day lecture on Brihad Bhagvata Amritam.

He flew to New Jersey, U.S.A. to conduct 6-week academic classes on Hindu Philosophy in Rutgers University, the state university of New Jersey. In New Jersey, he also spoke on Practical Utility of Bhagvad Gita under the aegis of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, New Jersey chapter and delivered another lecture on Happiness. While in the U.S.A., Dr. Dasa addressed a group of students of philosophy, lecturing on Sadhana and Position of Soul . He also spoke on Hinduism Today in Atlanta.

The final leg of his North American tour ended with his visit to the Dominican Central University of Professional Studies, Santo Domingo in Dominican Republic where he gave lectures on Ayurveda and Health and The Role of Women in the Modern Society . Before this, however, he conducted a 4-day lecture-series on Meditation in the beautiful beach-city of Punta Cana.

The second part of his European tour started from mid August with his visit to the Croatian city of Rijeka. Here, he delivered a series of lectures on Importance of Meditation, Role of Women in Building Society and The Art of Love.

Dr. Dasa's World Tour ended with a 10-day lecture series on The Basis of a Righteous Society and The Art of Love at the University of Terre-du-Ciel in France.

Attended by students, philosophers, Indologists, thinkers and religious leaders, each of Dr. Dasa's lectures offered an insight into the anatomy of fundamental human problems in the light of ancient Indian philosophy. The effect his words had on his participants can be fathomed from the fact that many of them, especially in Atlanta, have come forward to support the non-profit works of Jiva under him.

Dr Satya Narayana Dasa Once there was a young boy who had high ambitions in life. He did not know how to fulfill his dreams. One day, while on his way, he happened to overhear a great soul preaching to his followers on the importance of goal-setting in life. The young ambitious lad stopped to listen to the great words of the seer. He was highly impressed by him and decided to follow his words in life.

Next day, he set out to make a long list of goals he wanted to achieve. The list included, among others, things such as a big car, a large bungalow, a beauty queen as wife, 100 servants, a monthly income in millions and a chance for yearly world tours. He was not satisfied with list though. He thought to himself, "I must have missed some important things."

Guru-Shishya So next day morning, he visited the village temple to meet the head priest there-known as the wisest man in his village.
