John Dapron , who is the principal R&D scientist for Sigma-Aldrich's life science division , has been named the PolyPops Award winner at the third annual International Conference on Microplate Technology , Automation , and Robot ( MipTec-ICAR ) held in Basel , Switzerland last fall. Dapron was recognized for developing a high-capacity , 96-well microtiter plate using a nickel chelator designed to bind as much as 10 µg of protein per well. The binding capacity of the new plates is several orders of magnitude greater than others currently on the market. The plates are suitable for applications such as binding tagged proteins for isolation and characterization or for studying protein-to-protein interactions. -
