   (Hayward, CA) - Veteran community college football coach Steve DaPrato has been selected to lead the Chabot College Gladiators. His knowledge of California Community College football, his commitment to academics as a priority, and his outstanding record should be a winning combination for Chabot. DaPrato has been a football coach for thirty-two years. He coached high school football for fifteen years. He was the head coach at Elk Grove High School where the team went on to win the Section Championship and was named Coach-of-the-Year in 1984. He spent two years as an assistant coach at Sacramento City College and two years as an assistant coach at U.C. Davis. He spent the next ten years as the head coach at Modesto Junior College where he had the highest winning percentage of any football coach in MJC's 79-year history. DaPrato's teams made seven bowl appearances, three league championships, four bowl championships and set school records for rushing, passing and total offense. Most recently he served as head coach at New Mexico Highlands University. DaPrato and his wife Johanna have two sons, Jon-Paul, a senior at Colgate University studying in Frieberg Germany, and Daniel, a freshman at Chabot. Chabot is excited to welcome Steve DaPrato as their new head coach and look to him to continue the great tradition of Gladiator Pride.
