Emad W. Daoud, M.D., Ph.D., is a member of the Cleveland Orthopaedic and Spine Hospital at Lutheran. He is Chief of Anesthesiology and Director of the Pain Management Center at Lutheran Hospital. He is a board certified pain management specialist with special interest in back pain, neuropathic pain and sympathetic maintained pain. Dr. Daoud is also a board certified anesthesiologist with subspecialty training in anesthesia for orthopaedic surgery and neurosurgery.
Dr. Daoud earned his medical degree from the Ain Shams University School of Medicine in Cairo, Egypt, in 1976. He holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Colorado State University in Ft. Collins, Colorado, in collaboration with Ain Shams University School of Medicine. Dr. Daoud also earned a M.Sc. in basic medical sciences from Ain Shams University School of Medicine. He completed a fellowship in pain management in 1997 at the Cleveland Clinic, where he also completed a residency in anesthesiology. Dr. Daoud completed a fellowship in laboratory medicine in 1992 from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri.
Throughout the course of his profession, Dr. Daoud has held several prominent academic and clinical positions. His academic appointments have included assistant professor of anesthesiology at the St. Louis University Health Sciences Center, associate professor of biochemistry at Ain Shams University and visiting assistant professor of biochemistry at Colorado State University. His clinical and administrative positions have included Chairman of the Pain Management Committee at St. Louis University Health Science Center, Director of the St. Louis University Pain Management Center, Director of Education in pain management at St. Louis University Health Science Center and Research Coordinator for the Division of Anesthesiology at the Cleveland Clinic.
Dr. Daoud's written work includes several articles published in peer-reviewed journals and abstracts presented at major professional meetings and conferences. Among many, Dr. Daoud's professional memberships include the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Management, International Anesthesia Research Society, American Society for Anesthesia, Society for Pain Practice Management, American Academy of Pain Medicine and Association of Anesthesia Clinical Directors.
