Leslie A. Danziger - Solaria Chairwoman
Leslie Danziger is an entrepreneur, technologist and visionary with a 25-year track record of successfully launching communications projects and technology ventures in the non-profit and for profit sectors. In September, 1999 she became the Chairwoman of Solaria Corporation.
In the past 15 years, she has successfully launched three companies. The first was LightPath Technologies (Nasdaq:LPTHA), which develops proprietary optical materials and processes for high performance, low cost products for telecommunications, lasers, and solar energy. The company began commercialization of its laser products based on its patented GRADIUM technology in 1996, and its first telecom components in 1998. Ms. Danziger was awarded the New Mexico Inventor of the Year award in 1997 for development of GRADIUM technology.
In 1997, Ms. Danziger, then LightPath's Chair and CEO, formed and spun-out LightChip, Inc. to develop system level WDM (wavelength division multiplexing) products for the Metro and Cable TV markets that are experiencing explosive growth driven by Internet demand. LightChip's first round funding in 1998 was led by AT&T Ventures, a leading telecom venture capital firm. LightChip will deliver its first products in mid-2000 and is positioned to become the price/ performance leader in optical networking solutions.
Ms. Danziger was featured in Business Week in 1997 in a Science and Technology article entitled "A Lens that Tricks the Light Fantastic", and also in the Wall Street Journal Manager's Journal column, "A Driving Vision sees the Light".
She is also a Director of the Worldwide Indigenous Science Network and a Strategic Advisor to the Foundation for Spiritual Democracy. After being actively involved in the development of information and energy technology for 15 years, she believes that technology can and must be used to solve environmental and social problems.
