   TEACHER: David N. Danziger, a Lilburn Middle School teacher arrested in August for allegedly grabbing a student by the throat, was formally suspended from teaching in Gwinnett.

   David Danziger, 51, was recently released from jail on $5,600 bond. According to the police report, the 7th grade teacher is accused of assaulting a Lilburn Middle School student in a hallway last Friday without provocation.
   
   The police report indicates that when the student tried to go around Danziger, the teacher grabbed the student around the throat with his arm in a choke hold and the student fell to the floor.
   
   The school resource began investigating, talking to students and other staff members who saw what happened. Danziger turned himself in after the student took out a warrant.

   Based on the investigation, the police are charging Danziger with simple battery.

   At the hearing, Danziger, who has been a teacher in Gwinnett since 2000, will be able to present his side of the story, according to the statement. Danziger could not be reached for comment. A Gwinnett Schools spokeswoman would not say whether Danziger had been teaching since the incident, or if he was getting paid.
