Joseph Danvers

Police say 41-year-old Joseph Danvers showed them an ID card dated from 1992 and stated that he was a sergeant with the Broom County Sheriff's Department.

Danvers showed police the ID card after he was pulled over for a suspended registration.Police then learned that Danvers previously worked for the Broome County Corrections Division but had been terminated.

A background check of Danvers driver's license also turned up seven suspensions.Danvers is being held at the Montgomery County Jail for criminal impersonation.

Joseph Danvers of Binghamton admitted that while employed by the Broome County Sheriff's Department , he used credit card information belonging to an inmate.Danvers admitted to using the information to purchase more than twenty thousand dollars worth of items back in October.Sheriff Harder handed Danvers his termination letter as he left the courtroom.
