Vanja Danilovic-Jones, Community Health Outreach Worker Vanja was born in Rijeka, Croatia, and lived there until the age of eighteen. She arrived in the United States in 1992 to attend high school in Oregon. From 1993-1998 Vanja attended New Mexico State University on a basketball scholarship. After earning her B.S. in Clothing, Textiles and Fashion Merchandising, she moved to San Francisco. She began work on her MS at San Francisco State University, and worked with a local designer. Vanja is a Community Health Outreach Worker with the Bosnian Community Wellness Program. She provides medical interpretation, health education, and other health-related duties at the SFGH-Refugee Medical Clinic, leads social support groups, and organizes and facilitates health education and community resource workshops and a Bosnian youth mentoring/tutoring project. In her spare time, she still loves to play (and watch) basketball.
