BILL DANIELSON grew up in Amherst, Massachusetts, where his parents still live.He is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where he earned BS and MS degrees in Wildlife Biology and a minor degree in Forestry.In his 20 year career as a professional naturalist and environmental researcher he has worked as a Law Enforcement Ranger for the National Park Service, a Wildlife Biologist for the US Forest Service, a Preserve Steward for The Nature Conservancy, a Field Biologist for several research projects throughout the eastern half of North America, and as a Park Interpreter and Park Ranger for the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Management.Bill currently works as a Biology and Chemistry teacher at Pittsfield High School in Pittsfield, Massachusetts.In addition to teaching classes, he continues to work as a freelance nature writer, photographer, and artist.In 1997 he started writing his popular column Speaking of Nature for the "Life & Times" section of The Recorder (Greenfield, MA).In 2006 his column was picked up by the sports section of The Daily Hampshire Gazette (Northampton, MA).And, as of September 10, 2007 you will also be able to read his column in the "Life Discovery " section of the Times Union (Albany, NY).In 2001 he published his first book; a compilation of some of his best essays entitled (can you guess?) Speaking of Nature.
Bill has been married for three years and lives with his beautiful wife (Susan Arbetter of WMHT's "New York Now") in their home in Altamont, NY.
