It is with great regret that I must inform you that our good friend Arthur Danielson (AD9O) became a silent key on Wed. June 6,2001. Art suffered a heart attack at home and was taken to Resurrection hospital.

As many of you know Art wore many hats for the Club. Not only was he the vice president, but he was also the repeater trustee, and technical chairman. Art was one of the founders of our VE program and anyone who has attended Field Day cannot forget Arthur's wonderful 239 beans with one of many secret ingredient PS-12 (polish sausage 12inches log).

I'm sure many of you have fond memories of Arthur as I do. This year we will be dedicating Field Day in his memory, and I'm looking forward to seeing you all there.

On Tuesday June 5, Art Danielson (AD9O) suffered a fatal heart attack. Art was survived by his Aunt Bernice, his dear close friends Carol Sparacio and daughter Lisa and a countless list of friends his life touched in a personal way.

Art was an active member in the Society Radio

Operators (Director and Treasurer of CFAR), Chicago FM Club (Vice President and Repeater Technical Chairman) and Charter member of The Motley Crew ARC. He was also Trustee of licenses for SRO and CFMC.

Art was also an active member in Field Day as the "Official Cook " who supplied the prize-winning bean receipt. He was also active in support of Radio Expo each year.

But mostly Art will be remembered for his willingness to help when someone was in need and had an infectious smile and humor.

Art was one person who was so involved with so many things that his not being around will take a lot of getting used to. Again, Art, thanks for being part of our lives for all these years. We will miss you. (thanks to Mike, WA9FTS for this info)

For Second Reading At The May General Meeting

    ...
Recently, Art (Ex-WB9JIT now AD9O became a Silent Key. He will be missed very much. Art wore many hats at Field Day doing everything from bring the grill and food (Art's favorite beans) to obtaining the use of the 80 FT bucket truck from the Forest Preserve, that held the antennas. Art was always there helping in some way to make sure that the Field Day went off without Murphy's Law invading to much. We are commemorating this years Field Day in Art's memory.

Field Day is more than just coming to the site and eating, seeing friends that we talk to on the air. It is preparing ourselves for the day that may or may not come where we are going to be asked to put our skills and equipment to the test. Just look at Texas. The FCC has declared a radio emergency down there until further notice. Believe or not, that could be us. We need to make sure that we are ready.
