PORTSMOUTH -- Joseph C. Daniels, 58, of the 1300 block of Carrington Crescent South, died March 7, 2002, in his home.
Mr. Daniels, a native of Williamston, N.C., was a security guard with the Navy Lodge for 12 years.He was a member of New Light Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, Norfolk, where he was a deacon, trustee, usher and choir member.He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra E. Daniels; two daughters, Judith Daniels and Jacqueline Daniels, both of Portsmouth; eight sisters, Valnetta Edwards and Kim McClain, both of Portsmouth, Diane Gatling of Suffolk, Thelma Reid, Barbara Jones and Mary Daniels, all of New York, and Ruth Daniels and Rosa Daniels, both of Rocky Mount, N.C.; three brothers, Bobby Daniels of Norfolk, and Pastor Craig C. Avents and Johnnie Avents, both of Portsmouth; two grandchildren; two aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at New Light Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, 138 Lucas Ave., Norfolk, by the Rev. Anthony Paige.Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake, with military honors.Viewing will begin at noon Monday at Corprew Funeral Home.The family will be at the funeral home from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday.
