The latest release from the great Transit of Venus label is by a wonderfully named (after a great UNDERTONES song) group from DC consisting of JIM SPELLMAN (formerly of VELOCITY GIRL and HIGH BACK CHAIRS) on guitar and vocals, TERRY BANKS (formerly of GLO-WORM and also on guitars and vocals), ALEX DANIELS (formerly of SWIZ and SEVERIN) on drums and HUNTER BENNETT (formerly of the post-GOVERNMENT ISSUE outfit WEATHERHEAD) on bass.

Needing a new drummer, Tyko was lucky to be joined by Alex Daniels.Daniels just moved to Fayetteville from Washington D.C. and brought his impressive musical past with him.He was the drummer for Swiz (Jade Tree) and Severign (Dischord).

Drummer and journalist Alex Daniels, a label-mate of Grindle's on Dischord (Severin), also plays in the band Julie Ocean.

The band is made up of Travis Anderson, keyboardist; Bev Blann, bassist and vocalist; Kevin Blagg, guitarist and vocalist; Matt Kesner, guitarist; and Alex Daniels, drummer.

Alex was sick, but ironically the song had no drum parts. Bev: We're going to put him on a poster or something in the background though.The thing I'm maddest about is the coffee, (laughter) I don't care if he was sick, it's Sunday and I need COFFEE! (more laughter).

How did you choose the name Tyko?

Alex: It's weird.We once played with a band called Eon and we were both one letter away from being a now bankrupt company. (Enron, Tycho)

What's the best show you've ever played? Kevin: In Denton Texas at the Rubber GlovesBev: The response was insane.

Tyko members Kevin Blagg (vocals/guitar), Beverly Blann (vocals/bass) and Matt Kesner (guitar) recently welcomed two new members: drummer Alex Daniels and keyboard player Travis Anderson.

When Swiz broke up in the early nineties, drummer Alex Daniels went on to play in Severin while guitarist Jason Farrell began doing graphic design for Dischord Records releases.
