Bill Daniell, president of Kaitlin Group, says that people are drawn to the area for a variety of reasons.First, he says, is affordability; house prices in Bowmanville are considerably lower than in Toronto. This makes it an attractive location for young families who are buying their first home or are making their first move up from a first home.
Another reason is that it's a safe, friendly community where people like to put down their roots."Families get established and then, years later, their children follow," says Daniell.Bowmanville is also a town that caters to seniors; Kaitlin Group has retirement condominiums and is building a retirement home.Sometimes seniors will look to a smaller home within the same community, when it's time to downsize.
There are a lot of major builders coming into the Bowmanville area.Daniell says they have sold land in Bowmanville to major builders such as Metrus and Brookfield in the last few years. This land is being developed for both residential and commercial use.Daniell says that land has recently been purchased for numerous major retailers, a new recreation complex and an aquatics centre."They're really catering to young families," he says.
