Playing three minutes a game was not enough for Ryan Daniel, even if it was for an Southeastern Conference team like Auburn.
So over the summer, the former Goodpasture standout decided to transfer after one season with the Tigers and sought out a situation where he could do more than mop-up time at the end of games. The ideal situation turned out to be right around the corner.
The 6-11 Daniel has enrolled in classes at Lipscomb and will practice with the team as a walk-on this fall.
...
"[Playing time] is the No. 1 reason," Daniel said of why he left Auburn. "I just wanted a situation where I could be on the court, getting to play."
Daniel has three years of eligibility remaining. As a freshman, he was used quite sparingly at Auburn. He averaged less than one point per game on the season. He played in 18 games for the Tigers, averaging about three minutes per contest.
Daniel said he became familiar with some of the current Lipscomb players, including senior point guard James Poindexter, during the recruiting process and he feels like he'll fit in with his teammates immediately
"I'm excited to learn my new teammates' [games] and how I can help the team," Daniel said.
As a senior at Goodpasture, Daniel turned in averages of 17 points and 11 rebounds. He was a three-time all-district pick for Goodpasture.
It stands to reason Daniel will be able to step in and play in 2006-07.

"I think he'll be very comfortable with the players, the coaches and the students at Lipscomb," said Keith Edwards, Daniel's high school coach at Goodpasture. -
