Rusty Daniel of Hines is the project manager for the Overton Park project now under construction at Cumberland Boulevard and I-75. The first phase calls for a 380 , 000-square-foot office building and a 420-room hotel.
Daniel said Hines is hoping for three Overton stops on the Cumberland circulator line. Part of the problem that the Cumberland [ area ] has had is its four quadrants being separated by I-75 and 285 , he said. The light rail plan , especially the circulators , connect the entire market without getting in a car.
Leithead said the existence of transit in Cobb will be an enormous advantage in the competitive marketplace. In order for an office building to remain viable and competitive , it's got to be accessible..
Leithead said it is reasonable to expect that light rail would spur development along Cobb Parkway all the way north to Town Center. -

HINES Interests LP is confident the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) will approve plans HINES recently resubmitted for its 338-acre Deerfield Park mixed-use development, Project Manager Rusty Daniel said. "We feel pretty good about it," he said.

Daniel said his company has met with or plans to meet with ARC and state environmental officials and is working with area municipalities, including Roswell and Alpharetta, and parts of Fulton, Forsyth and Cherokee counties. "We're trying to get the municipalities to come together to find out how to maintain good water quality," he said.
Daniel said HINES could have ignored the ARC because it's an advisory board and its approval is not necessary for a project to proceed. "We could have just said `fine' and steamrolled over the ARC, but we want to work within the system," he said. -
