Paul Daniel, press officer for Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, was forced to leave last night's meeting as a jeering crowd led by a leading protestor turned on him.
...
The crowd descended into jeers and chants of "out" and Mr Daniel attempted to make a dignified exit out of the back of the hall but was met with an alleyway wall.
He came back into the hall and walked up the aisle between the packed out audience and left the room.
Mr McGlade then explained to the audience why he threw Mr Daniel out of the meeting.
"The council has refused to have a meeting with us. The truth needs to be told.
"I chucked Paul Daniel out of this meeting as he was trying to stifle the truth."
The meeting continued with a forty five minute address from Chris McGlade during which he again berated Mr Daniel, calling him a "toad" over the council's decision not to make a barrister's report public.
He branded the council "lying" and "manipulative".
"We've exposed their lies and deceit for the public of this town."
Paul Daniel said today: "As an ex-journalist, I'm fairly used to some lively abuse, but it was a new experience for me to turn up with my notebook at a public meeting, be labelled the Borough's biggest liar and asked to leave after five minutes! -
