Banks also believes the Southport concept can work in other towns and says he'd be interested in forming partnerships with other Home dealers to transfer his store model to other markets, noting Southport can be recreated with smaller footprints of about 30,000 square feet.

Paul Daley, Corporate ControllerPaul has been employed with APM since March 1992.With over 30 years business experience, Paul is currently responsible for cash management and internal financial reporting; Additionally he oversees Human Resources, Safety, and our Benjamin Moore/House of Excellence retail operation in West Royalty.

Paul began his career with APM as controller.When APM purchased Southport Home Hardware in 1998, Paul assumed the challenge of management of the operation.He helped to set up and develop the new store which doubled in both size and sales, managing a staff of over 100 employees.When the Home Hardware operation was sold Paul was asked to return to his current position as part of our senior management team.

Paul Daley, general manager at the Southport Home Hardware in Stratford, says items like chainsaws and generators sold out on Monday, when the store opened for business, but without power.

"I would say we've probably sold about 25 generators, and that's unheard of, of course, in typical times," says Daley."But 25 in two days is a big day.It's been wild, to say the least."

Daley says overall sales are up 20 per cent since the tropical storm hit.
