    Spanning 45 years, "Michael Dailey: Color, Light, Time, and Place" presents 20 paintings and 24 works on paper that trace Dailey's evolution as an artist from the early 1960s to the present.

    When he started, Dailey was much in the mold of such abstractionists as Franz Kline and Willem de Kooning.While Dailey's later works refined abstraction to the point of silky luminosity, they weren't merely the work of a second-generation abstractionist expanding on a midcentury movement.Influenced by Chinese art and light and space art, Dailey found and honed his own kind of abstraction.

    In recognition of Michael Dailey's 45-year career as a painter, Greg Kucera Gallery, 212 Third Avenue South , and Francine Seders Gallery, 6701 Greenwood Avenue N., have united to present concurrent showings of the artist's work. Kucera's show features his earlier work while the Seder's show focuses on recent paintings.

Michael Dailey is a retired University of Washington professor; his work is frequently included in Northwest survey and invitational exhibitions.
