When I first joined the club I met Chris at one of the meetings. He was always willing to talk and once referred back to a previous event that the club hosted and added that it was 10yrs ago!I couldn't believe he had been in the hobby that long and now there's proof . Congratulations to you for hanging in there through the good times and bad!

I do know Chris was at the very first meeting, and virtually every one after that.I'm sure he also remembers when we had Al Theil as a speaker.Over 200 DFW enthusiest turned out. Also if I recall Chris won quite a few of the raffles we had at every meeting.

Chris, if you have a bunch of older ones, I'm sure someone in the club has a scanner and would be willing to start building up a library of these.

Chris Curtis has set up a tank that requires little maintenance and produces great results. The aquarium is a 30 gallon long with about 45 pounds of live rock and a Deep Sand Bed. Circulation for the tank is provided by a MaxiJet 900 powerhead with an additional MaxiJet 900 powerhead driving the protein skimmer. The tank has an open top with a Metal Halide Pendant light. This allows for easy viewing from the top which gives a unique perspective.Corals and especially clams can look dramatically different when viewed straight down compared to viewing from the side. Some of the pictures of the clam show this effect.Chris only does small water changes about once every 6 months. He replaces evaporated water with unfiltered Fort Worth tap water with about 1 in 4 gallons being Kalkwasser. His biggest maintenance is keeping the xenia and clove polyps pruned. Most of the corals and the bubble tip anemone were aquired as frags from fellow hobbyists. If you have any questions about his setup or if you want xenia or clove polyps contact ChrisCurtis through the DFWMAS forum.

Editor's Note: Chris has been with the club a long time, and used to be our newsletter editor. He attends many of our meetings when he's able.As far as I know, he is our only club member that tends to his reeftank from a wheelchair.

Chris Curtis took over the newsletter duties for many months when I needed a break a couple of years ago, and has been a great member for many years.Chris served on the Board for several years and helped us out many times.Chris, I still have your tank and stand in my garage.
    ...
Chris took the time to tell us more about his tanks and his methods, and even demonstrated feeding his Snowflake Eel when the tangs weren't trying to steal the food.
