"There is a wave right now that education entities have to reach out to private sources," said Charlotte Curtis, liaison to the state foundation for the Nevada Department of Education.She said the state will encourage collaboration among the local foundations.
"All of us are going to meet pretty soon.We can help each other a lot.We can write letters of support and possibly write letters for future grant plans," Curtis said.
Jacks Valley counselor Schulz said parent response to the book reading project was positive.
"We didn't buy a copy for every student.We started with the sixth grade.When they were finished we passed the book down to fifth, all the way to first," she said.
