Complete but unofficial results that came in just after midnight on Wednesday showed Holstein, the Republican candidate, won 9,568 votes, or 54.5 percent, while his Democratic challenger Charles Curtis won 7,985 votes, or 45.5 percent.

Curtis, 63, worked in public schools for more than 30 years, 20 in administration, he has said.He was superintendent of Cushing ISD, assistant superintendent at Brownsboro ISD, taught junior high and high school in Athens and was a training specialist for Texas A&M University.He has also worked as a transportation, vocational and maintenance director.
If elected, he wanted to look into possibly changing the place and time of Commissioners Court meetings to encourage more public involvement.He also has said he wanted to emphasize spending wisely to department heads, work with the Hospital Authority Board to ensure citizens have quality health care, and support law enforcement and volunteer fire departments.
