Cummins receives high honor, gets scholarship offer
    ...
Jacksonville High School senior Brian Cummins will get part of his college tuition free because of his status as a National Merit Scholarship Finalist.
    ...
Most finalists find out in March if they've won a scholarship, but Brian already has the colleges calling.

    He's earned it.

Brian is Student Council treasurer, Spanish Club president, first baseman for the varsity baseball team, student council representative for the National Honor Society, and he'll be playing part of "Doody" in the senior class production of "Grease."
    ...
Despite the full tuitions offered, Brian decided Arizona State is too far from home, and Texas Tech didn't have the biomedical engineering program he wants to study.

"A&M has committed they will sponsor him, and he's pretty much decided he's going to be an Aggie," Mike said."To an old Longhorns dad, it's pretty tough."

Brian himself was raised a UT fan, and has told his dad he'll wear his orange Longhorns shirt to classes.
