  At its annual convention in October, the Oregon Lodging Association (OLA) presented Scott Cruickshank, general manager at The Resort at the Mountain on Mount Hood, with its Lodging Operator of the Year Award.Cruickshank was chosen from among 1,200 managers throughout the state as an industry leader who directs a successful hospitality business while maintaining ethical management standards and contributing consistently to the association.
  
  Cruickshank joined The Resort 16 years ago and has been general manager for the past nine.He has an extensive history of volunteer work, serving as chairman on the boards of both the OLA and the Tri-County Lodging Association.He is also a former trustee for the Oregon Restaurant Education Foundation.Prior to joining The Resort, he spent six years in restaurant management in the Northwest.
  
  Under Cruickshank's direction, the resort staff has dedicated itself to preserving the environment through recycling, conservation, environmental stewardship and education measures.
