Cruickshank was pleased with his runner's up spot, and shared the new champion's relief to be back racing full time.
A year ago Cruickshank chose to pursue a career with the RAF as a pilot officer, not quite knowing what leave he would be granted to continue on The British Land National Alpine Ski Team.

The Women's title was again won by the reigning British overall title holder Chemmy Alcott but she was made to work doubly hard thanks to a couple of errors, which crept in as she nears the end of a long and tough season.
" This is my last championships as a Junior and while I've won at Senior level this is one I really wanted today.I felt myself getting deeper and deeper into the big ruts on the second run and knew I was going to touch down at some point, so when I did I just fought back and I'm just glad I made it!"smiled Alcott.
