   CHICAGO-Deborah Slowinski Crown has been promoted to director of the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago's (RIC) Vocational Rehabilitation Services program, which provides consultation, training and job placement for people with physical disabilities. Crown is a licensed clinical professional counselor and a certified rehabilitation counselor-clinical supervisor, who joined RIC in 1991 as a senior vocational rehabilitation specialist.
   
   Throughout her tenure at RIC, Crown has expanded her management responsibilities to planning and directing the activities of the Vocational Rehabilitation Services program and has upheld its mission of engaging active participation of the business community to enable qualified individuals with physical disabilities to obtain employment and succeed in today's workforce. It has been through her leadership that nearly 90 percent of job applicants find employment through its services with the support of participating employers and in achieving outstanding ratings on several vocational rehabilitation surveys by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
   
   A published author on stroke rehabilitation, Crown has also made numerous presentations at national conferences on various topics including: returning to work, ADA issues, job placement strategies to overcome employment barriers for individuals with physical disabilities, and assessing vocational outcomes for individuals who have sustained a stroke.
   
   Crown resides in Lincoln Park with her husband and their dog, Buceo.
