Galen H. Crowley , 92 , died Oct. 18 , 2001 , at his home. He was born May 21 , 1909 , in Gouldsboro , the son of Ethel Mae Crowley.
He was an active member of the Grange in Corea. He attended Portland High School. Galen was a lobsterman for 42 years out of Corea and Winter Harbor. He was also a house painter in Corea and Winter Harbor. During World War II , he worked in a naval shipyard in Portland. Galen enjoyed gardening , sports , his animals and his family.
He is survived by two daughters , Maxine Field and her husband , Robert , of Ellsworth and Jacqueline Randall of Surry ; grandchildren , Christine Pelletier and her husband , David , of Lamoine , Roger Randall Jr. and his wife , Bonnie , of Yarmouth , Stephen Randall and his wife , Melissa , of Blue Hill , Karen Carroll and her husband , Donnie , of Hancock , Gale Gray and her husband , Bruce , of Bucksport , Robert Field Jr. and his wife , Shirley , of Maryland , Carol Donnelly and her husband , Carl , of Bangor , Gary Field and his wife , Karen , of New Hampshire , David Field and his wife , Rhonda , of Ohio , and William Field and his wife , Callie , of Lebanon ; 28 great-grandchildren ; seven great-great-grandchildren ; nieces , Diane Guthrie and her husband , Tom , of Ellsworth , Shirley Chase and Janet Fickett , both of Winter Harbor. Galen will be sadly missed by his granddaughter , Christine Pelletier and her husband , David , and by his many caregivers. He was predeceased by his mother , Ethel Mae Crowley ; his wife of 72 years , Margaret , and a triplet daughter , Christine Crowley.
A graveside memorial service was held Oct. 21 , 2001 , at Woodbine Cemetery , Ellsworth. Memorial donations may be made to Hancock County HomeCare and Hospice , P.O. Box 156 , Blue Hill 04614.
