   We had a wonderful speaker in Anne Crowley. She is the Domestic Violence Lead Attorney for the City of Tacoma and most recent President of the board of the YWCA. She gave us a handout that is produced by the City of Lakewood, The Pierce County Commission Against Domestic Violence and the City of Tacoma. This pamphlet provides a listing of domestic violence resources and information on identifying what is domestic violence, who are the batterers, how to determine if you are a victim and what action to take. I have a few extra copies if anyone would like one. Ms. Crowley noted that 6, 000 cases of abuse were reported to the police last year. She told us that as individuals we can make a difference – that the movement to end domestic violence began as grass roots organizations. She stated that Tacoma-Pierce County area is a leader in taking steps to prevent the violence and deal with the perpetrators. She is very willing to be a resource, should we ever need her.
   
   A couple of additional items I forgot to mention during the meeting.
   
   The next board meeting will be held at Elaine Stewart's office on 8/2/00. All are encouraged to attend.

   Tacoma assistant city attorney Anne Crowley, who handles the city's domestic violence cases, said Brilliante will have a pre-trial hearing in three weeks.
