   Golden Touch ... NWIFHE Lecturer John Crowe proudly displays the gold medal which he won recently at the Irish Professional Cookery and Restaurant Competition.
   
   John Crowe, a Hospitality and Catering Lecturer with North West Institute, has won gold at this years Professional Cookery and Restaurant Competition, held recently at the RDS in Dublin.
   
   The prestigious event, organised by the Panel of Chefs of Ireland, was attended by professional chefs from all over Ireland, some from the most exclusive restaurants in the country.
   
   John won his award in the Senior Irish Lamb competition, and remarkably, only entered the competition minutes before the start time.
   
   "I had originally applied for a place in the competition but was told that the places had been filled," explained John
   
   "But I was determined to take part and as I was going to the show anyway, I decided to bring my equipment with me. I arrived within 10 minutes of the competition start time and the rest is history! Before I knew it, I was being awarded with a gold medal for my presentation."
   
   John's success is further evidence of the growing Hospitality and Catering talents and skills currently on offer at North West Institute, and the staff and students from the Institute wish John continued success.
