Beth Crowe has lived in Smithfield since 1981 with her husband Steve. While raising Joshua, Ethan, Amy, Matthew, and Zachary, she was very active in Farm League baseball, Odyssey of the Mind, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Skowhegan High Speech and Drama where she became known as "Mama Crowe".
She has been a member of Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners for many years and has raised much of the family's food. As a member of Notre Dame de Lourdes Church in Skowhegan she serves as parish advisory council chair and chair of the Social Justice and Peace Commission. She also served as youth minister for many years and sings in the choir.
Beth went back to teaching in 1986 part time at Smithfield Elementary. She has taught at Skowhegan High's Science department, and then Temple Academy. She also taught Chemistry and Science at Waterville Adult Ed for 10 years and is still teaching parenting classes in collaboration with SAD's 54, 49, and 59 Adult Ed as part of her current job. After Temple Academy closed the high school she served as Director of the Mid Maine Chapter of the American Red Cross.
She is now the Team Leader for the Somerset County Family Enrichment Council of KVCAP. The Council's mission is to foster awareness about child abuse and neglect through education and outreach. Beth also teaches parenting classes and facilitates parent support groups.

Beth sits on the Events Committee for the Chamber and will serve as the lead to organize River Days. She and Steve have taken up sea kayaking and enjoy exploring the coast, as well as the lakes and rivers of central Maine. Her 2 year old and 2 month old granddaughters are helping to keep her young.
You may have seen Beth on the stage at Lakewood Theater where she has been in 10 plays since 1993. Her most memorable were "Everybody Loves Opal", and "Little Old Ladies in Tennis Shoes".
