   Health-care companies typically have higher premiums for employers with an older staff, according to Ron Crowder, owner of Crowder Bros. Ace Hardware at 5409 Manatee Ave. W.
   
   Crowder decided to outsource his company to Oasis Outsourcing in Sarasota to get a more competitive health insurance plan for his employees.
   
   "The average age of my staff is around 60," Crowder said. "I went with a staff leasing agency that does my bookwork so our median age would go down - that way we get a more affordable plan."
   
   By grouping his staff with a leasing agency, Crowder estimates he receives about a 40 percent savings on his health-care plan.
   
   The hardware department has 35 employees, with 18 of those full time. Crowder also has several part-time employees who are older than 50.

   Crowder had five flags left Wednesday. Popular 3-foot-by-5-foot house flags , priced at $10-$50 , were sold out. He expects 400 more flags to arrive by Friday.
