   MARTIN COUNTY , The FBI has awarded Martin County Sheriff Robert L. Crowder with the 2008 Advocate for Women in Law Enforcement Leadership Award, according to a Sheriff's Office press release.
   
   Crowder received the award Tuesday at a ceremony within the Miramar Town Center Commission Chambers in Miramar, according to the release.
   
   Crowder was nominated for the award based on policies and procedures he began developing in 1992 upon his election to the office, according to the release.He has since made recruitment and retention of all qualified candidates, with an emphasis on minorities, including women, a priority.
