    Mingilton, Crow join PESH's ranks

Former Plano and University of North Carolina soccer player Dawn Crow and former Rich-ardson Pearce co-ach LaGwenna Mingilton will take the reins of the Lady Panthers' soccer and basketball programs, respectively.
    ...
Crow, who coach-ed West Mesquite in 2007, inherits a Lady Panther team that finished 9-5 in District 9-5A, good enough for third place. However, they lost the playoff opener 1-0 to Rowlett despite dominating most of the contest.

"Coach Peel has done a tremendous job building a tradition," Crow said. "(It's kind of) exciting to continue that tradition, and working with (athletic director Johnny) Ringo was (a) positive."

While PESH lost a lot of talent to graduation, Crow said it retained quite a bit, which she believes can do special things in the future.

The new coach was a key figure for winning teams at both the high school and collegiate levels.

As a senior at Plano, Crow was part of a Lady Wildcats' squad that lost to San Antonio Madison 3-1 in the 1991 state championship.

Over the next four years, she experienced nothing but national title wins as North Carolina went on a four-year (1991-94) championship run. The Lady Tar Heels were 97-1-1 during that period, and by the time she graduated, Crow, a sweeper, was voted among the top 11 defenders nationally and was in the top 20 for assists by a sweeper. After graduating, Crow was an assistant at Mississippi State and Alabama before spending two years as the head coach at Duquesne University in Pennsylvania. She then moved to Fairfield University as an assistant before taking the head job at West Mesquite.

PESH spread the scoring around during the playoffs, something that pleased Crow.
