   (Aug. 16) MULLEN - George Washington Crouse, 86, died Thursday, Aug. 15, at his home. He was born on March 8, 1916, at Grant, as the sixth of nine children of O'Dell and May (Brumbaugh) Crouse.
   
   He worked on various ranches in the Sandhills. In 1939, he broke horses as a civilian at Fort Robinson. In 1940, he was drafted into the Army to break horses for the government. On May 19, 1941, he married Anna Neal at Paxton. In 1948 the family moved to Ashby where he spent 28 years as a mailman, deputy sheriff and brand inspector. He and his wife moved to Mullen in 1993. Kids and grandkids spent many happy miles accompanying him on the mail route. He enjoyed going to auctions and bringing home lots of "bargains." He had lots of animals at his home and enjoyed caring for them. He is survived by his wife, Anna of Mullen; son, Louis "John" (Denise) Crouse of Orland Park, Ill.; daughters, Rosemary (Hugo) Weber of Wichita, Kan., Georgann (Larry) French and Jo (Dick) Macke of Mullen; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Mr. Crouse's funeral will be at 10 a.m. MDT, Monday, Aug. 19, at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
   
   Burial will be in the Cedarview Cemetery at Mullen. A Rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m. MDT, Sunday, Aug. 18, at the church. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. MDT, Saturday, Aug. 17, and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. MDT, at the funeral home.
