    FRANK L. CROUSE, 80, of 221 Black Oak Drive, Lancaster, and formerly of Franklin County, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, at Conestoga View following an extended illness.

    Born in St. Thomas, he was the son of the late John E. and Rebecca (Hunsecker) Crouse.He had lived in Lancaster since 1951.

    He and his wife, Betty (Keckler) Crouse, were married in October 54 years ago.

    He was a 1941 graduate of Quincy High School.

    Mr. Crouse was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving as a carpenter's mate, second class, aboard the USS Collingsworth APA-146, a troop transport ship, during World War II.

    Mr. Crouse was a compositor.Prior to retiring in 1978, he worked at R.R. Donelley and Sons for 13 years.He previously worked for the Lancaster Intelligencer Journal for 14 years and The Record Herald in Waynesboro.Following his retirement, he worked part time at the former Sperry New Holland and Brenneman Printing Co.

    He was a charter member of Community United Methodist Church, Lancaster, where he was a member of the choir and bowling team.

    Mr. Crouse played French horn and was a former member of the Wayne Band, Waynesboro.

    He was a member of the Strasburg Sportsmen Association and a former member of BPO Elks Lodge 731, Waynesboro.

    He enjoyed stateside travel and attending Naval reunions throughout the country.

    In addition to his wife, Mr. Crouse is survived by two sons, Kenneth A. Crouse of Bird-in-Hand and David L. Crouse of East Petersburg; two daughters, Shirley M. Stauffer and Carolyn M. Ramos, both of Lancaster; two brothers, Harold L. Crouse of Fairfield, Calif., and Samuel N. Crouse of Fayetteville; one sister, Dorcas Helmuth of Chambersburg; six grandchildren; a stepgranddaughter; and two step-great-grandchildren.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Elwood Crouse and John Crouse.

    Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Community United Methodist Church, 130 Tennyson Drive, Lancaster.Burial will be in Boehm's United Methodist Church Cemetery with military honors conducted by the members of the Red Rose Honor Guard.
