Mr. Crouch concentrates his practice in construction, commercial and products liability litigation. He has devoted more than half of his practice to the construction industry. His construction practice includes general counseling and contract negotiation in addition to litigation. He has served clients as lead counsel in projects such as the Pittsburgh International Airport and the Westmoreland County Jail.

He has represented all major segments of the construction industry, including owners, contractors, specialty subcontractors, design professionals and sureties in both public and private sector projects. Similarly, his representation has spanned the gamut of project types including industrial facilities such as steel mills, proprietary engineered projects such as alternative fuels, commercial projects such as high rises and shopping malls, public projects such as highways, bridges, schools and jails, and utility projects such as power plants and sewer line rehabilitation.

Mr. Crouch has frequently litigated complex commercial matters outside of the construction industry. These representations have included defense of financial institutions, including the defense of consumer class actions. He has handled securities and accounting malpractice cases, as well as minority shareholder disputes. He has prosecuted and defended trade secret and business tort cases, and successfully obtained a seven-figure jury verdict in a Lanham Act case. He has also handled numerous contested bankruptcy proceedings.

These latter representations include the successful representation of the Pittsburgh Penguins in their lease dispute, and the successful representation of Special Metals Corporation in terminating their pension plans, collective bargaining agreements and plan retirement benefits. He was appointed liaison counsel and a member of the discovery committee by Chief Judge Donald E. Ziegler in the Master File Allegheny Health Education and Research Foundation bankruptcy litigation.

Mr. Crouch's product liability experience includes industrial and consumer products as well as toxic tort litigation, such as manganese, vinyl chloride, benzene, ionizing radiation, asbestos and mold. He previously served as national trial counsel for a major underground mining equipment manufacturer. Mr. Crouch's products liability representation frequently overlaps his construction practice in cases involving construction defects resulting in sudden failures.

He has been a speaker at seminars such as the International Bridge Conference; has taught CLE courses through the Pennsylvania Bar Institute; and, is the past editor of The Cornerstone, a construction newsletter published by the Allegheny County Bar Association.

This list is far from complete, but I would be remiss to fail to mention the support of Ron Crouch, of McGuire Woods (who planted the seed that turned into the pro bono coordinator position and created the idea of "road shows" which enable us to present pro bono opportunities at firm and corporate meetings) and the Public Service Committee which continues to help and support the program by incubating new pro bono ideas and helping to encourage firms and attorneys to volunteer, as well as being responsible for the selection and recognition of outstanding pro bono volunteers.

Parties vie over Allegheny insurance - [Cached Version]

We are currently in the middle of a 45-day stay devoted to trying to settle the insurance portion of the case , said Ronald W. Crouch , a lawyer for Allegheny's court-appointed trustee.People are optimistic , and the judge reasonably thinks it is worth the time to try..

Someone familiar with the settlement talks said , If there is no settlement , it will be a scorched-earth environment.Insurance companies' lawyers and plaintiff lawyers will be paid , but the creditors will end up getting very little..

The size and complexity of the case has kept scores of lawyers and other professionals busy for years.
