Iron County Sheriff's Detective Michael Crouch said the incident took place in the early hours of Wednesday, but because Gillespie had allegedly ingested Boric Acid, he was treated at Valley View Medical Center before he was arrested. No one was injured in the incident except Gillespie, who had self-inflicted wounds.
When the call came in, deputies were notified of a domestic dispute and that five shots had been fired. They were also informed that Gillespie had allegedly ingested the acid, and allegedly had a knife.
Three deputies responded to the call and parked down the road, then approached the house on foot, Crouch said. -

While waiting for a bus, Iron County Deputy Sheriff Michael Crouch said another relative drove up to a nearby mailbox.
The girl went to that car and asked the relative for a ride to school as she climbed into the back seat.
However, Crouch said the relative told the girl she didn't have time to drive five miles into town, and the girl got out of the vehicle.
"She apparently became caught and tangled," Crouch said. "The relative was not aware this had happened and drove off with the little girl caught in the rear passenger door."
The driver went about three miles before Crouch said a witness stopped them. The driver then put the girl in the back seat and drove for help.
Crouch said a crisis team has been called in to help family members. "Obviously, everybody's upset."
The sheriff's office is not releasing the girl's name until other relatives are notified. They also are not releasing the names or relationships of the two drivers until they have investigated further, Crouch said.
