   Jim began racing while attending the University of Colorado, Boulder in 1985. Surrounded by some of the best cyclists in the nation was both daunting and inspiring, but he was afforded the opportunity to absorb a great deal about bicycle racing and cycling in general. The years of racing in Boulder and the lessons learned set forth a foundation that he was able to successfully build on for a number of years. However, in 1992 Jim's business career was rather time consuming and he stopped racing.
   
   Returning to racing in 1999, Jim continued to follow standardized, time intensive training programs. As Jim's personal and professional life continued to develop (marriage, children, advancing career), the time for cycling and racing decreased to the point that results were extremely limited, often non-existent.
   
   In 2006, Jim developed and used the Next Step Cycling Program, which provided a balance in all aspects of life, and subsequently realized the best results of his cycling career.
