Elizabeth Crouch, 17, senior, Pleasure Ridge Park High School: I don't think year-round schools are a good idea, because I think summer is the one time where students can spend three months cultivating themselves and their own interests - attending summer programs such as the Kentucky Governor's Scholars program and reading books they have been meaning to read all year.
    ...
Elizabeth: My favorite class in high school was college credit English with U of L. It was like the best teacher I've ever had in my entire life because we would read books and for the first time in high school, I think we finally reached the maturity level where we had those deep, like philosophical discussions about what this book meant to us and what was the meaning of life and what was the purpose.
    ...
Elizabeth: I thought the point of high school was to find the balance between academic and social. (You'll need to do that) throughout your whole life in order to be a happy person, to be successful in both your professional and personal life.

I personally have loved high school.

Elizabeth Crouch, 17, senior, Pleasure Ridge Park High School: It's like rampant in the bathrooms.
    ...
Elizabeth: I really don't care if people smoke or not.
    ...
Elizabeth: I don't think teachers can be responsible for smoking because they see like 120 kids a day.
    ...
Elizabeth: OK, this is why a smoking ban in Kentucky won't pass.

Elizabeth Crouch, 17, senior, Pleasure Ridge Park High School: I think celebrities are interesting and they fascinate us because of the glitz and glamour of how they look - everybody is kind of entertained by that.
    ...
Elizabeth: My grandfather is probably the role model of my life because he came from a small town and everybody in his family was farmers and, of his brothers, he was the only one who wanted to go to school. He worked two jobs while going to veterinary school.Just his aspirations - going after your dream.
    ...
Elizabeth: There is kind of like a new phenomenon because celebrities weren't really around until the late '40s and '50s.I mean, not that long.
    ...
Elizabeth: I think the younger group is more impressionable because as we get older you are better educated.
