   The regional nominee for elementary teacher of the year is Ms Barbara Crouch. She teaches at Port O'Connor Elementary School in Calhoun County ISD.

   Barbara Crouch Port O'Connor School ( Calhoun County ISD ) Ms. Barbara Crouch graduated from Southwest Texas State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education , minoring in English and Fine Arts. She has completed graduate studies at UH/V , St. Edward's University , Southwest Texas State University and University of Texas. She is a member of Texas Classroom Teacher Association , Calhoun County Teachers Association , and Delta Kappa Gamma. Barbara has taught fourth grade in Calhoun County ISD since August 1983. She does staff development in the areas of TAAS Writing , Math and Learning Styles. In 1998 , Barbara was Calhoun County's Elementary Teacher of the Year , she was nominated by former students for inclusion in Who's Who Among America's Teachers , and she won the Achievement Award - Delta Kappa Gamma in 1995. Besides her involvement in her school , a few of her many examples of her past and present community involvement include : Past President of Calhoun County Arts Council , a member of the Port O'Connor Library Board and the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce , organist at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Lockhart , and Past President of Delta Kappa Gamma.
