Steve Croteau joined SDNE in 1993. A past President and Vice President, Steve is a Level 4 Training Officer.
Steve, a Labrador breeder, understood that his dogs would be happiest if they had a job. After reading an article about canine SAR and seeing the accompanying photo of dogs rappelling with an EMT volunteer, Steve knew he found a great job for his dogs.
Steve has been on several searches with Jake his yellow lab, now retired, and Mariah his black lab. Both Mariah and Jonah (born 1998) are level 2 dogs.
Steve has attended many specialized workshops and training seminars: Sauvetage Canada; Wilderness Medical, Pinkam Notch; Marian Hardy water trainings; Solo; Tufts Courses; Inland SAR Coordination School. and NASAR Response Conferences. Steve is certified in FUNSAR; MSF; MLPI; and is a Rope Tech I. He is the SAR Coordinator for DMAT-RI (Dept. of Defense) as well as a EMT/D.
