Ian Croston
Position Director of Quality & Engineering
Ian joined Pelikon in June 2003. His role is to manage both the development of new manufacturing processes and to oversee the smooth transition of new products from early phase development through to volume manufacturing.
Prior to joining Pelikon, Ian held a number of leadership roles in engineering, manufacturing and marketing functions within the telecommunications sector. Between 1994 and 2002 he was responsible for a number of high speed fibre-optic product lines at JDS Uniphase,s optoelectronic modulator facilities in the UK and the USA. He also spent 7 years at GEC-Marconi working on the development of fibre-optic products for both civil & military applications.
He holds a Bachelors degree in Material Science and Engineering from the University of Sheffield (1986), is a Chartered Engineer and a member of the IEE. -

ESSIENT Photonics has appointed former JDS Uniphase executive Ian Croston as director of engineering as it prepares to ramp up for production.
The optoelectronics company which was spun-out out earlier this year from Glasgow University is a supplier of integrated optoelectronics components and has already received £5 million in a start-up funding round led by US venture capital Pond Ventures. Essient also received commercialisation support from Scottish Enterprise.
